One of America’s top-selling furniture retailers, City Furniture has opened the first of three Orlando area showrooms, in Ocoee, and is on track to complete new superstores in the metro market near the Mall at Millennia and in Altamonte Springs by year-end 2019.
With a $100 million expansion underway in Central and South Florida, the innovative, “green” company expects to add 200 new Orlando-area jobs and is completing a Central Florida distribution center adjacent to the 85,000-square-foot Ocoee showroom.
“Orlando’s dynamic business scene has been on our radar screen for years,” said City Furniture CEO Keith Koenig. “Now we’re moving quickly to build market presence and be active in the local community.”
The Ocoee City Furniture showroom features the company’s Generation 3 store design for a relaxed, fun customer experience. At the in-store KC Café & Wine Bar, customers enjoy a glass of wine or a craft beer while browsing the modern, casual and traditional furnishings and mattress gallery. At the City Market Place store-within-a-store, customers find a greater selection of accessories, lighting, rugs and wall décor than typically available in furniture stores. City Furniture continues growing online “with more products at amazingly great values and the ability to get merchandise shipped to your home for free,” Koenig said.
At the Ocoee showroom’s grand opening Nov. 9, Koenig announced City Furniture is making a $1 million donation to Covenant House Florida, a non-profit agency providing shelter and programs in South and Central Florida for homeless or at risk youth. The contribution is the lead gift for Covenant House Florida’s $10 million fundraising campaign to expand facilities and programming.
City Furniture is creating two additional Orlando showrooms, including the largest in its 29-store network – a 120,000-square-foot home furnishings and accessories superstore near the Mall at Millennia scheduled for mid-2019 opening. A 114,000-square-foot superstore being built in Altamonte Springs will open in late 2019. City Furniture will seek Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design (LEED) certification for both superstores.
City Furniture operates 17 showrooms from Miami through Orlando, and in Fort Myers, Naples and at The Villages, as well as 12 Ashley HomeStore showrooms as that brand’s Southeast and Southwest Florida licensee.
