AT&T Expands Innovative High-Speed Internet to Additional Rural and Underserved Communities in Florida

Dec. 14, 2017 – AT&T* expanded Fixed Wireless Internet1 to homes and small businesses in rural and underserved locations across 15 new counties. This follows the launch of Fixed Wireless Internet in parts of Florida in June.

Residents and businesses can sign-up for service today in parts of – AlachuaBayCitrusColumbiaDixieGilchristHernandoJacksonLevyMarionPutnamSt. LucieTaylorVolusia and Washington counties.

Communities across these counties eligible for the service include HawthorneArcherGainesvilleNewberryFountainYoungstownPanama CityEbroCrystal RiverInglisCitrus SpringsDunnellonLake CityFort WhiteOld TownSteinhatcheeCross CityBellTrentonFanning SpringsNewberryBrooksvilleWeeki-WacheeHolmesGracevilleBonifayCampbelltonGracevilleCottondaleFountainChipleyChieflandBronsonInglisTrentonWillistonCedar KeyMorristonDunnellonOtter CreekNewberryDunnellonOcalaHawthorneFort PiercePort Saint LucieSteinhatcheeSevilleMimsPiersonNew Smyrna BeachOsteenChipleyVernonBonifayEbroCottondaleYoungstown and Alford.

This rollout, now in 18 states, began in April earlier this year and is part of our FCC Connect America Fund commitment. We plan to provide access to over 1.1 million locations across 18 states by 2020.

“In the last century, rural communities relied on an infrastructure that included roads and analog or digital communication services, while today they need an IP based communications infrastructure that includes high speed broadband capabilities to remain competitive,” said Joe York, President of AT&T Florida. “With this innovative service, we are working to provide a game changing technology that will close the connectivity gap in Florida and will bring additional opportunities for more customers in more parts of our state.”

Between 2014 and 2016, AT&T invested more than $2.8 billion in its best-in-class wired and wireless networks.

Our Fixed Wireless Internet service delivers a home internet connection with download speeds of at least 10Mbps and upload speeds of at least 1Mbps. Customers can download, surf and stream their favorite movies or television shows. The connection comes from a wireless tower to a fixed antenna on customers’ homes or businesses. This is an efficient way to deliver high-quality, high-speed internet to customers, many getting access to high-speed internet for the first time.

In addition to Florida, the service is available to residents and businesses in parts of AlabamaArkansasCaliforniaGeorgiaIllinoisIndianaKansasKentuckyLouisianaMichiganMississippi, North Carolina Ohio, South CarolinaTennesseeTexas, and Wisconsin.

To determine Fixed Wireless Internet eligibility, interested consumers may call toll-free 1-877-990-0041. We’ll continue to provide updates as the service becomes available at more locations.
