Lynn named Apple Distinguished School

Nov. 8, 2017 – Lynn University has been selected as an Apple Distinguished School for 2017–2019 for its iPad-powered learning program. This marks the third consecutive time that Lynn has been named as a Distinguished School for continuous innovation in learning, teaching and its environment and for showing documented results of academic accomplishment.

Since its launch in 2013, Lynn’s iPad-powered learning has saved students up to 90 percent off the cost of textbooks and contributed to improved learning outcomes and higher levels of student engagement. In surveys, 88 percent of first-year Lynn students said that technology contributed to their understanding of course material and 89 percent said they feel that iPad better connects them with their classmates.

The university’s use of iPad has also resulted in less PC-centric use of rooms and study areas across campus, enabling the school to develop spaces with more versatility. In the library, for example, the university converted a computer lab to provide a larger and more centrally located career center.

“It has been a wonderful experience to see how students are using their iPads across campus to come together with faculty and other students to produce a really high-quality learning experience,” said Chris Boniforti, chief information officer.
