Oct. 2, 2017 – AllianceRx Walgreens Prime, the combined central specialty pharmacy and mail services company formed by Walgreens and pharmacy benefit manager Prime Therapeutics LLC (Prime), today officially began the launch of its new brand, which included the unveiling of new signage at its headquarters in Orlando, Fla., as well as at a few other company-owned facilities across the country. This also formally introduces the new brand to patients, some of whom will begin to see the AllianceRx Walgreens Prime name and logo on prescriptions and correspondence. Full consumer rollout, and all components of the company, are expected to be aligned to the new brand by the end of March 2018.
As part of forming the new company and as a next step, approximately 3,000 positions will transfer from Walgreens and Prime to AllianceRx Walgreens Prime by the end of the year. The company is also in the final stages of hiring approximately 1,000 more pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, nurses and other support personnel. This growth would bring the combined workforce of AllianceRx Walgreens Prime to approximately 4,000 people across multiple locations in 10 states.
Joel Wright, AllianceRx Walgreens Prime’s CEO and a former divisional vice president for Walgreens specialty solutions, led efforts to unite central specialty pharmacies and mail services businesses previously owned by Walgreens or Prime.
“I’m excited to share our company’s brand – and all that it stands for – with our patients and clients,” said Wright. “While AllianceRx Walgreens Prime is a newly combined company with a new name, we are built from the brands and operational strengths of two leading companies with more than 130 years combined experience in the pharmacy industry.”
“I’m proud of how our teams have come together to serve patients. Every day we are living our purpose of ‘We provide hope and care for better tomorrows’. It certainly rings true as this year’s devastating hurricane season brought out the best in us. I’ve seen my entire team rise to the challenge working night and day to deliver medicines to those who were in harm’s way,” said Wright. “Our patients’ care truly is our top priority.”
In addition to delivering market-leading customer service, AllianceRx Walgreens Prime has access to one of the largest limited distribution drug portfolios so patients with complex conditions, such as cancer and multiple sclerosis, get increased access to specialty drugs.
