Aug. 28, 2017 – Bisk, one of the nation’s leading online program management companies, is proud to announce that it has been named runner up for the 2017 Cigna Well-Being Award. This honor recognizes companies for exceptional commitment to improving employees’ physical and emotional health through workplace wellness programs. Bisk was presented with the award Tuesday, Aug. 22, at the Cigna Summit at the Tampa Marriott Waterside Hotel & Marina.
“Bisk is honored to be recognized by Cigna,” said Wendy Vera, Benefits and Wellness Manager with the Tampa-based company. “Health and wellness is an integral part of our culture. “Cigna is committed to creating a healthy workplace, and we are pleased to recognize good partners like Bisk for their efforts to improve employee wellness,” said Dean Mirabella, President of Cigna North Florida.
Bisk’s workplace wellness program, Healthy U, inspires its more than 700 employees to make healthy choices by supporting them through physical activity classes, corporate competitions, wellness visit incentives, blood pressure screenings, gym membership discounts and weight management programs.
“Healthy U has influenced so many positive changes in my life,” Bisk employee Alicia Starke said. “Through all the various programs and information they offer, I have learned how to embrace change and take control of my health.”
Bisk employees use Cigna’s My Health Assistant to track their wellness score to see where they need to improve, as well as to measure progress on their annual wellness visits. My Health Assistant also provides advice and resources for creating and maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), U.S. employers lose more than $225 billion each year in productivity due to employee health problems. Cigna created the Well-Being Award to recognize employer clients that have a positive impact on the health and well-being of their workforce.
Applicants are evaluated based on the core components of their wellness program, including the goals, implementation, incentives, leadership engagement and employee participation. All applications are reviewed and judged by an internal, multi-departmental review committee from Cigna.
