Join us for a Spring Fling to the Nation’s Capitol
March 29 – April 2
to view the stars of springtime…the cherry blossoms.
The National Cherry Blossom Festival commemorates the 1912 gift of 3,000 cherry trees from Mayor Yukio Ozaki of Tokyo to the city of Washington, DC. Today’s National Cherry Blossom Festival has grown from modest beginnings to the nation’s greatest springtime celebration.
Our trip is planned for the weekend of the Kite Fest. The free event is held on the grounds of the Washington Monument near 17th Street NW and Constitution Avenue. It showcases the creativity of kite makers and skill of fliers from across the US and other countries through a variety of competitions and demonstrations, Rokkaku Battles and the Hot Tricks Showdown.
Of course, in addition to the blossoms and kites there are the wonderful DC attractions: The Smithsonian Museums, Zoo and Capitol. We will be parked in the center of it all in Union Station; in walking distance to the mall and just steps from the Metro.
